| On Nov. 13, 2009, the Sixth National Congress of TAC commended 306 senior translators. These translators come from a wide variety of fields including foreign affairs, literature and arts, social science, international communication, science and technology, ethnic languages, translation service, and foreign languages teaching, and 15 language pairs were involved. Mr. Han Qide, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress attended the Congress and extended warm congratulations to the senior translators.
In order to honor the great contributions made by senior translators and interpreters to China’s social, economic and cultural development and to encourage young translators and interpreters to learn from them, TAC started to commend senior translators and interpreters through its committees and local members in 2001. So far, more than 1000 translators and interpreters have been commended. |
