The Award Ceremony of the 21^st Han Suyin Award for Young Translators was held right after the MTI Seminar on November 14, 2009. The competition was co-sponsored by the Editorial Office of the bimonthly Chinese Translators Journal under TAC and MTI Education Center of Peking University. A total number of 1253 people took part in the competition, and a hundred of them won awards. The first, second and third prizes were awarded to 12 participants, and honorary mention was awarded to 88 participants, making this year’s competition as one with the largest number of participants as well as award winners.

Han Suyin Award for Young Translators was initiated by Chinese Translators Journal in 1989. Twenty years on, it has become a reputable competition of translation with the longest history, the greatest influence, and the largest number of participants in China.
